Both things that he's said about five times already. But the other thing that Lennon says...about barely knowing each other. That bothers him for some reason.
"Let's change that. How do we change that?"
He wraps his arms and legs around him and oh hey - there's a cute soft tail to play with too.
Maybe if Daeshim says it enough, Lennon will start to accept them too. But
as it stands, he still hates them.
Perhaps is phrasing is a bit of a Freudian slip because he had meant in
terms of time but it feels like the other way is true in some ways. He
allows the other to wrap around him, the tail flicks and Lennon feels like
he doesn’t even have complete control over its reactions to things or the
way his spine kind of tingles when it’s touched.
“You ask me a question and I’ll answer and ask you a question until we get
tired of questions for a while.”
That's right, he had Daeshim bring him hot chocolate before. And wild mint grew in the forest, he's familiar with it. Next time, he'll try to make it for him himself, and Lennon dare not refuse.
Lennon shifts, tucking his head against the others shoulder because he can.
His ears rub against him and he tries to shake off how that makes him feel.
Lennon is surprised at the force of the statement about red and he ticks it
away to ask about some other time. For now he lets himself enjoy the way
daeshim talks about blue, the sky. There’s more questions for another time
there too.
"But brown is my color. That's what they told me. Brown like dirt and mud, other unpleasant things too."
He used to wear a lot of brown when he first met Baein. Even now, he'd probably still unconsciously choose brown clothes, brown shoes. Not because he likes them but...he was made from mud and brown is his color.
He sighs, and then sounds more cheerful again.
"What scares you? I need to know so I can be ready."
Lennon frowns because he can't imagine that. Unpleasant things? What could be unpleasant about Daeshim -- he's weird and annoying sometimes but he's good... His ears twitch in irritation and he nuzzles him more.
"Nothing unpleasant about you," he mutters. He won't repeat it either.
The other's asking questions that are so hard for him! Lennon licks his lips and he didn't ask everything so he chooses something simple.
It's a surprised sound. Nothing unpleasant about you. It's like something Baein would've said, or Jasper. He hadn't thought about hearing something like it from Lennon, but now that he has it makes him feel warm. It feels the same way that they used to make him feel.
And Daeshim feels the same way in return.
"Then if a clown ever comes near you, I'll yell at it until it runs away!"
Does he even know what a clown is? Maybe, maybe not, he'll yell at it anyway.
He guesses it is. Humans have such short lives, though they extend when they're with Fae. (Something Lennon may realize someday.) By Fae standards, Daeshim's barely out of his teenage years.
"Jealous...I." Daeshim has a very clear memory of the first time he felt jealous. "When I like someone and they don't want to kiss me or touch me. When they don't pay attention to me."
He's still back in that moment now, the sound of heavy breathing. Bodies tangling together and he's right there. They know he's right there, he always is and they never...they don't look at him or kiss him or hold their hand out to him-
And the vines are curling around Lennon, up his legs and torso and wrists, creeping around his throat.
Lennon nods. To him it's... a very long time. But so much is different for them both it seems in that sort of thing.
Maybe he shouldn't have asked about jealousy. But he had and he can put the pieces together from what Daeshim has told him in bits and pieces. He's confused at the appearance of vines, the way the curl around his body, drawing near his throat. He doesn't mind the vines, generally speaking, even if they wrap around his throat it won't matter.
But...
"Daeshim," he calls gently, not sure how to handle this but honestly he's not all there it feelsl ike.
He gasps when Lennon says his name. Daeshim does look like someone blinking the sleep away, his eyes refocusing before he looks at him. And that's when he sees the vines that have wrapped around the human. He looks embarrassed as he tears them away from him, the leaves turning to little more than dust after he does.
"You shouldn't...I hope you won't do that to me."
Because Daeshim likes him. The fact that the vines appeared and curled around him are proof of that.
Lennon isn't sure he understands the embarrassed look. The other never seems embarrassed of everything. He doesn't say anything as he pulls them away, and he bites his own lip.
"I don't want to do that to you," he finally settles on saying.
"What...explain what just happened with... those vines?"
It's his turn to ask a question. Daeshim almost reminds him of that, almost says the words. But maybe it's not the time for games after what just happened.
Daeshim is a little reassured by his words. He believes him. Lennon hasn't been cruel to him at all.
"They're just like. Extensions of me. They react as I would." He's not sure that helps Lennon understand any better. He doesn't know. "I wanted to wrap around you and keep you. They did it in my stead."
That look comes over the Fae's face again, making him fidget.
Lennon exhales a little and he doesn't understand at all, not really. But maybe magic just doesn't make sense... Maybe the fae will never completely make sense to him. He furrows his brow and it feels weird that he doesn't feel the need to instantly remind Daeshim that he's not something to be kept.
Instead, he tilts his head to kiss him, his hand curling into the other's side to keep their bodies held even closer.
"Ask me a question," he murmurs softly where he's carefully kissing his lips.
Lennon is kissing him and holding him close, and it feels like there's nothing more that Daeshim really needs to know. He knows that the human is from a world where magic is either rare or hidden, but he hasn't shown any fear in the face of his.
"Do I make you happy?"
That's his question. That's what he wants to know.
The question feels strange to Lennon. He's pretty sure no one has ever asked him something like that before. Not in any real way. He lets his forehead rest against daeshim.
He hates that he cares so much, that he wants Daeshim so much.
"Yeah," he says finally. Daeshim makes him laugh and smile even when he's annoying.
His voice is a little shakier than normal. That makes him happy too. Fae can never be accused of being selfless creatures. Daeshim is sure that he's selfish in a thousand little ways. He doesn't think he could let Lennon go, but at least he can try to make him happy.

"I like this game. I like questions. What's your favorite everything?"
Is that cheating? He doesn't think that's cheating.

“You have to be more specific than that or I won’t play,” Lennon retorts, squirming just a little bit. Ignore his tail dammit.

Daeshim presses his lips together, pouting for a moment before narrowing his question down.
"What's your favorite food? And drink! They have to go together, it should count."
no subject
You’re really going to sound crazy if you say that out loud… he tries to ignore anything going on with the tail that won’t stay still.
Lennon thinks that of course this is the question that he has to start with! He takes a moment but eventually does come to a conclusion.
“I really like homemade soup,” he says softly. “and I like peppermint hot chocolate or peppermint chocolate milk the best.” Not necessarily together…

"I don't like red."
But that doesn't answer Lennon's actual question, even he realizes that. Daeshim tries to relax, taking lots of time to think it over.
"I like all the other colors. But blue most of all. The sky is blue."
His voice softens at that, almost wistful.

Daeshim frowns thoughtfully, lifting his finger to trace the shape of Lennon's lips before brushing it against the tips of his fangs.
"Younger than a thousand for sure. Do you like girls, or just boys?"

"So..old," he doesn't seem upset just... it's hard to wrap his mind around.
"Both. What makes you jealous?"
